Short version
We set cookies only after you click Accept on the banner. They're used to count unique visitors via Google Analytics 4. No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics. If you decline, no cookies are set.
What we set when you Accept
| Cookie | What it's for | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Identifies a unique visitor across visits. | 2 years |
| _ga_<container> | Per-container session and engagement state for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
Both are first-party cookies set by Google Analytics. We don't set any other cookies.
What we don't set
No advertising cookies. No social-network embed cookies. No remarketing pixels.
What happens if you Decline
We use Google's Consent Mode v2. When you decline, no cookies are set in your browser. Anonymous, cookieless pings still reach Google to give us aggregate visitor counts — these carry no persistent identifier and can't be used to recognise you across visits.
How to manage your choice
- The banner appears on your first visit and remembers your choice in your browser's local storage (
seatwatch-consent-v1). - To revisit the choice, clear your browser's site data for seatwatch.scot — the banner will reappear next time.
- You can also delete the
_ga/_ga_*cookies from your browser at any time via the browser's cookie settings.
